What Do You Say about Yourself, Jesus?

Has anyone ever asked you the following question, "Who are you?" How did you answer? Most peoples' responses relate to their job or their family name. How Jesus answered that question is given multiple times in the Gospel of John. Each of Jesus' answers is preceded by the words, "I Am." Jesus' answers make Him the most unique Person to ever walk the face of the earth. In his gospel, the Apostle John made this statement about Jesus' purpose on earth; "No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Farther, He has made Him known" (John 1:18, RSV). Jesus came to earth in part to reveal God's character to us as humans. Therefore, each of Jesus' "I Am" statements enable us to know Jesus more completely. But they also allow us a deeper glimpse of the one Jesus called His Father, the One Who said of Himself in Exodus 3:14, "I Am Who I Am?."
