Blind and disfigured during the Great War, Ralph Witham believes that there is no future for him outside the confines of the hospital. A visit from his boyhood friend helps him realise that this is not the case. His disfigurement had been corrected thanks to the work of a brilliant doctor at the hospital. His sweetheart, Melody, is still waiting for him, and his young brother seems to have got himself into some kind of trouble.
It is time for Ralph to return to the outside world and find out what is going on.
