A gifted pianist and Princeton graduate unaware of her rare beauty, Imogen Edwards innocently catches the eye of Manfred Andreotti, the notorious crime boss of East Clintonwood who controls everything and everyone in the town. A virgin with high ethical standards, Imogen has no intention of becoming involved with a crook like Manfred, but no woman has ever turned him down. He's relentless in his pursuit of Imogen.

When Manfred threatens her good friends in Little Italy, Imogen makes a deal with the crime boss: in exchange for her friends' safety, she agrees to become Manfred's mistress. Imogen knows this is a big price to pay and understands that her life will never be the same.

But the unexpected happens. Imogen begins to enjoy the notoriety of being a gangster's mistress and participates in activities she could not have dreamed of. As she falls in love with Manfred, Imogen is accepted by all of the members of his family, save for one. And that makes all the difference in the future between Manfred and Imogen.
