Five years have passed since Ake's father was murdered by the warlord, Oni Shun. She tries to continue the traditions of her tribe as the protector of the Hakone Valley, only to make a grievous mistake that cost the life of an innocent man. She runs away from her obligation to the valley all the way to Kyoto. Upon entering the city, a young ninja steals all her money and her heart. She joins a ninjutsu school where she learns more than just how to be a ninja, but also the harsh lessons of love and trust.
