The concept of a school of the prophets is by no means a new one; indeed the prophet Samuel was the first to initiate such a school. The Christadelphian community are entirely Bible based so it should come as no surprise that we follow this tradition. This course contains teacher training, it is produced not to be prescriptive in how to run an Ecclesia and its meetings it is there to provide frameworks around which you can determine the best way to run your Ecclesia. The materials found here are intended for the Christadelphian Ecclesias of Tanzania; however, the principles are universal and therefore are transferable to any culture.

The Devil and Satan is one of the most talked about Bible topics and yet one of the least understood. In the Global South this misunderstanding has been in part fuelled by bad translation based upon mistakes and misunderstandings carried over from the English translations of the 17th Century. If only the translators had gone back to the original Hebrew and Greek texts rather than using the English as the basis, then many of the resulting doctrinal errors would have never come into existence. Instead, today, many believe falsehoods carried over from Egyptian and Greek mythology along with humanistic, pagan and tribal superstitions. Matters have been made yet more problematic by the lack of understanding and knowledge of what the ancient Global South belief systems were, and in many cases continue to be; by the missionaries emanating from the Global North (Europe, Americas and latterly Australia). This knowledge has remained largely hidden for hundreds of years not least due to the religious fervour of "witch hunts" and the like. During my first 15 years as a missionary, I taught the "Devil and Satan" in Africa in the same way that I taught it in Europe finally realising that I and other missionaries are called upon time and again to explain the "Devil and Satan" primarily because previous explanations have failed to adequately touch upon doctrines contained within the ancient primitive pervading belief systems that continue to persist within the Global South. Attempts have been made in the Global South to teach using the same methods that worked in the North rather than first understanding the beliefs of those that teachers are trying to teach in the South. It is impossible (and arguably unethical if not colonial) to argue against a religious conviction if you do not know anything of that belief system against which you are arguing. Yet this is what many do. This book attempts to correct this.

(1 Wakorintho 15:58).

The Christadelphian fellowship is special, they are unlike any other group in the world. Their community is not a church like any of the other churches that are around it. It is unique in its structure, and unique in its make up. A Christadelphian Ecclesia does not have a hierarchy of Bishops, Deacons, Pastors, Fathers, Popes, Teachers, Rabbi or Priests; no member is more important than any other (Galatians 3:28), and Christ is seen as the head (Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12).They try to follow a first Century Jewish Biblical way of life that has been largely forgotten. Fellowship is central to the Jewish way of life. It is fellowship that binds Christadelphians together and what makes them into the body of Christ (Eph. 4:12). Each part of the Brotherhood working separately yet guided centrally by the Word of God (Psalm 119:105), in perfect unity (Romans 12:4-5) based on Bible principles that are commonly believed and commonly accepted as the guiding force in their lives (Jer. 10:23) leading them to salvation (2 Timothy 3:15-17).Elements of such a communal way of life are not readily understood, particularly in an African and global south context. Many of the concepts of working together for the common good are quite contrary to traditional Church, colonial and native African customs. Our book contains a Bible-based, Christ-related, life-impacting message of what that fellowship is, and why humanity needs to get back to that way of life. It clearly outlines the way forward for all churches which is to return to the old well trodden narrow path that leads to life.In Africa (particularly Tanzania) the Christadelphian community in recent years has drifted away from this first century ideal; and certainly almost all Churches do not follow the particulars of daily living that are clearly set out in the Word of God.This is a practical book written, not just for Christadelphians in Tanzania, it should be seen as a Bible based definition of what Bible based fellowship should look like whether you describe yourself or the community that you are part of as Christian, Jewish, Muslim or even pagan or atheistic. This book should not be seen as a misanthropic condemnation of the current state of churches; but may it invigorate all communitiess to "be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as [we] know that [our] labour is not in vain in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 15:58).This is a book about a better way of living.

The historic background beliefs and culture of Africa is that of the spirit world, magic and occultism; belief in the spirits of plants, animals, trees and nature itself, belief in ghosts, spirits and the power of the witch doctor. Within the ancient cultures of the Nubia, Buganda, Bunyoro, the Swahili coast, Zulu, Almoravid, Almohad, and the Bantu this can be traced back for millennia; cultures that existed hundreds of years before this area even became known as Tanzania. These beliefs are deeply imbedded into African culture even in the 21st Century, and despite turning from these things at baptism into Christianity it is hard to dispel them completely. Often it is found that individuals attempt to continue with these traditional ideas side by side with their beliefs in the Bible despite the total and complete incompatibility. Consequently, as I have travelled around Tanzania over the past 25 years as a missionary, one of the most common questions that have been posed to me is "what is the Holy Spirit?" More often than not I have retorted with a quick answer. I have used a broad brush, so as to answer the question quickly due to time constraints brought upon me by circumstances. Unsurprisingly upon my return to an area I find a reversion to the ancient belief systems. This small book is an attempt to correct the misunderstanding that may be held by the reader upon this so often misunderstood topic, and it attempts to provide a fuller answer to rectify the quick answers that have previously been given by missionaries. This is a comprehensive "must read" for all faith based organizations and workers that attempt to preach the Christian gospel message contained in the Bible. Whether lay preachers, or full time missionaries. We examine the context into which Christianity is being delivered, penetrate into the historical background of Africa, appreciate with respect religious and global developments and the motives of individuals to convert from the religions of antiquity. Consider the following statement "this man is full of spirit". Do I mean, the man has spirit gifts, the man is happy, the man is full of zeal, the man is enlightened, the man is controlled by a spirit, the man is energetic, or the man is drunk? Without the context we will never know. Language is a strange thing at times, and translation makes it much worse. We have counted at least 25 different meanings of the word spirit, as it is used within the Bible. In this short book we look at all.

This four Stage Course of Bible Study is designed to take us through the entire Scriptures of Truth. Each of the first three stages consists of one hundred and twenty-five lessons, constructed to gather in the main points of the Bible Story as it flows and unfolds. The fourth stage consists of 1189 lessons one based upon each chapter of the entire Bible. This second stage is broken down into five sections. These notes cover the general theme of "The Glory and Decline of the Kingdom of Israel". The lessons are chosen so that we might learn the truths that Jesus taught and so that we might have a desire to find out more about the Kingdom of God and how we might ultimately find a place in that Kingdom. Teachers are reminded of the necessity to emphasise the principles outlined and to select or expand the material as they assess the needs of their individual scholars. The questions are intended to draw out the important lessons in each story.

The author of this book has been travelling to Tanzania as a missionary since 1991. During that period he has been asked many Bible based and faith centred questions, some of which are repeatedly asked. It is thought that the answers to these repeated questions may be usefully contained in a pocket sized booklet for others to keep with them at all times so that they might give a 'ready answer' to those that ask. For this reason this booklet has been written as a compilation of answers to those often asked questions. This is not another attempt to answer all the questions of religious leaders, for that; see Wrested Scriptures by Ron Abel. This small booklet is aimed at answering the questions of the common man. The materials found here are intended for the Ecclesias of Tanzania; however, the principles are universal and therefore are transferrable to any culture.
