This book provides an opportunity for parents to discuss possible strategies to de-escalate anger with their children. A social story format was used to help children with special needs to identify possible scenarios with alternative choices to handle difficult situations. In my practice, I encourage parents to view a misbehavior as a learning opportunity for a child to grow. It is important to help the child identify "who" was hurt in the incident, "how" did that make the person feel, "what" can the child do to fix the mistake, and "identify" an alternative behavior to similar situations in the future. This book can help facilitate the conversation for alternative behaviors to handle anger outbursts.
