Gordon Huntington Harper (1904-34) was an author and instructor at John Hopkins University. John Henry Newman (1801-90) was a Roman Catholic cardinal and one of the founders of the Oxford Movement. His other works include Via Media, An Essay in Aid of a Grammar of Assent, and Apologia Pro Vita Sua. William Froude, F.R.S. (1810-79) was an English civil engineer that lives and worked in South Africa in later years. He is well known for his work with hull shaping that led to faster movement of ships.
