Vivid and luminous, the remarkable exploration of self, the curtain of nostalgia. A landmark of contemporary Poetry, Seeking the Avarenthie Sky is the assembled works of the self titled Seeking the Avarenthie Sky, along with We Were Once Birds, We Once Held Treolene Dreams, and Gold World Light - A Poet's Chorus. These four poetic silhouettes span the journey of homesickness and nostalgia, solitude in nature, and the quiet places we found not only in the world but in ourselves. Travis struck out across the vast and desert landscapes of Mexico, across it's wide open seas, on a journey to find his voice in poetry and writing. Throughout his journey, he is brought back to Ohio many times which fosters nostalgic memories that conflict with his need for exploration and travel, and he confronts within himself what it means to long for a home that no longer exists.

The theme of this year's LA Poetry Beach Festival was 'I Never Could Talk To You, ' a line from Sylvia Plath's poem, Daddy. It's the first time that we commemorated a female poet. In the two earlier events, we commemorated Kenneth Patchen with 'Get Ready To Die' in 2021 and Charles Bukowski with 'Some People Never Go Crazy' in 2022. The 3rd LA Poetry Beach Festival was the hardest one of all. I invested more time and money than ever in this six-day, coast to coast poetry festival that I first gave America in 2021, to celebrate my 50th birthday. This year, a fake NY Times reporter ran off with my money, and I had to cancel in April the Poetry Cab as I couldn't register my old NYC yellow cab that I just turned into a Poetry Cab at DMV. And then, while I was driving with a rental car from New York to Los Angeles to promote our festival during National Poetry Month, I had to drive back from Fort Madison, Iowa, after my best friend in New York had a stroke. It was life or poetry. And I chose life! LA Poetry Beach Festival combines four mini poetry festivals.- Poetry Pool Party (September 19)- Poetry Train (September 19-23)- L.A.P.D. (September 23)- LA Poetry Beach (September 24). The poets in this edition are: - Gurupreet K Khalsa from Mobile, AL- Doctress Neutopia from Tucson, AZ- Sara Candela from Los Angeles, CA- Heather Dittler from Los Angeles, CA- Kim Farris from Studio City, CA- Fizza Khan from Corona, CA- Katrina Khan from Los Angeles, CA- Ian Kirksey from Los Angeles, CA- D.L. Lang from Vallejo, CA- John Leslie from Los Angeles, CA- Breanna Ludwick from Los Angeles, LA- Basil Rouskas from Santa Monica, CA- Ryland Shrayber from Los Angeles, CA- Mona Taylor from Los Alamitos, CA- Stephen Tejas from Victorville, CA- Nicole Tallman from Miami, FL- Jennifer Kindler from Mendota, IL- Rebecca Faulkner from Brooklyn, NY- Kate Graham-Shaw from New York, NY- Lisa Rhodes-Ryabchich from Piermont, NY- Cara Gores from Cincinnati, OH- Shaketa Giftofthepen Ellison from Philadelphia, PA- Rose Menyon Heflin from Madison, WI- Tom Piontek from Helsinki, Finland
IN ABSINTHE VERITAS

Anti-Poetry is a poetry book that breaks all the rules. Filled with "Anti-Poems" written from the deepest depths of my soul and without limitations. Foreward: I did not set out to write a book. This all started with me trying to find an outlet for the thoughts floating around my "tortured mind". I stumbled upon the medium of poetry not because I loved it, but because I hated it! ...(at the time). "Poetry" can be confusing. I felt that poetry was a restrictive medium masquerading as the opposite. There seemed to be patterns and rules to follow for what makes a "good poem". In plain sight, trends became unspoken rules over time. And yet I do love the essence of the medium: the expression of indescribable phenomena; Human Emotions. And so I decided one day after writing many poems that seemed to break all the rules of poetry, to write a book, because something interesting started happening: I began to love these poems that I hated.Understand that the words in this book do not intentionally adhere- at least not consciously- to one theme or structure. These are a bunch of words I wrote that made me feel something, or rather connected me a bit closer to what I was feeling as I wrote them. And so, what started out as my little "punk-poetry" experiment became something much more beautiful than I had intended. There are real poems in here, not just ones I created to break the rules of poetry. Some are weird, some are bad, some are beautiful, some are ugly, some are more like journal entries. Some, you may not consider "poetry" at all. Whether you love, hate, are confused by, or inspired by these Anti-Poems, just know they came from an unfiltered heart. I hope you enjoy at least one. Thank you for reading my first book - "Anti-Poetry". Love, Jihad

Possible Trigger Warning This body of work was a side project that started as I attempted to finish another book. The idea came to me as I spoke to myself one night as I often do. I didn't want the thought to be a passing one, so I grabbed my pen and notebook. I had an internal conflict regarding the title. I changed it twice but decided to go with my first thought. Some of these things I have said aloud but not said loud enough or with conviction. Some things I have only said to me. Now that I read them back to myself I feel a wave of different emotions running through my veins. Some of these things I have not thought about in years some even more than 30-40 years. Some things I never noticed or realized until recent years. I often say that some things happen for a reason though we may never know the reason. I paused during the writing of this book to take a long look at myself in the mirror as well as to say that I am sorry aloud. I thought of the people that may or may not have been involved. I stopped to wonder why it even happened and if that was something that had to happen in order for me to be in this place. NIMA
The Gods of Time are dead and with them their histories. Stripped of artificeI wear no other past than this: He was sending me awaysinging my song into the fog casting my melody into the Lost Oceanto become Someone. "Spend some quiet time with these pages. There is more wisdom wrapped in more beauty in them than you can find in a dozen volumes of erudite philosophy. Ada Pembroke writes with grace. Many poets do that. What distinguishes her is that she actually has something to say that can change how you look at your life."- Steven Forrest, author of The Inner Sky "From the title itself through the final lingering line, this book is a fascinating and evocative narrative conveyed through poetry that retains the strange, haunting quality of the dreamworld from which its inspiration emanated."- Sarah Kate Istra Winter, writer, artist and devotee
This is my first published collection of poetry. It sums up the experiences, thoughts, interactions, and perspectives that I have had between the ages of 19 and 23. This began as a way to shorthand journal about my choices and my thoughts, but ended up as much more of an expressive diary of a brief period of life, through my eyes. I wanted to share these in case anyone else could benefit from my experiences, as well as to give people something to think about. This is true human poetry, about life as I see it.
