Obbedi is an essential primer for students of the Santeria religion, or of the West African religious tradition as it is practiced in Cuba today. It contains the translations to Spanish and English of nearly 100 ancient Yoruba songs that are commonly heard in Santeria rituals and in percussion and song classrooms that cover this genre, as well as basic background about each orisha and the stories that are frequently reflected in these songs.
