In reading the book "Who'd Think in Elementary I'd see the Penitentiary", I saw a young boy whose life was similar to many other young boys that face the struggles of the street and a school system that often fail to reach them. I also saw a family structure that did not give him the proper tools to navigate through life. I saw a young person that didn't have any hope of beating the prison system. From Detroit to Tennessee to Dallas, Brent Jackson has proven it's not how bad your circumstances are but how you respond to those circumstances.
Brent had dreams; dreams of working in the entertainment industry, dreams of family, and dreams of doing the right thing is what kept him focused when he found himself in difficult places.
