For most people, that secret shadow is no more than a collection of greedy or envious thoughts, prejudices they can never admit to, or a temperament that is not quite as mild-mannered and understanding as they wish it were. For others, that darkness hides deep-seated rage, violence, and perversions held under constant and strenuous restraint. No one knows this better than Police Inspector J. Erasmus.
He moved to town to escape his own dark past and find a fresh start in life. Little did he know that things were about to get far worse than he had ever imagined. Tasked with solving a series of bizarre and brutal crimes, he finds himself starting to question everything he knows about human nature, justice, and even reality, as the darker side of human nature gives way to something far more terrifying.
