This is the sequel to Forest City to Ascension. When Gary Newman and Galen Merrill were only seventeen, they caught two moose hunters at night and testified in superior court. From that experience, they dream about becoming game wardens, but when they graduate from high school their destinies take each in a different direction.
Warden Lloyd Bonney from Forest City sees the natural ability that both Newman and Merrill have. After ten years, he is now Chief Game Warden, in a position to use his cunning ability to bring both Gary Newman and Galen Merrill into warden service without disrupting their lives.
