Marsee Chenzira is excited for her first off-world trip with the Senior Guild Master, her new mentor. Her first sights of the Water World are nothing but color, light, and beauty, a world teeming with life, so very different from her desert home, but not everything is as it seems and not everyone is happy she's there.

The darkness her sister spoke of at her trial has oozed out of the deep and infected the people of this world. Spurred on by jealousy and greed, and the power her family now holds, many fear that their world will be overrun by off-worlders and the demands of the Consortium, some will stop at nothing to break Saber's hold and prevent yet another Chenzira from taking power.
