Om The Occasional Community
John Williams has arrived at his holiday cottage in 'Paradise' for a few weeks of rest and relaxation. Paradise is the name given to this narrow tract of land along a remote peninsular in East Gippsland. During the late 1800s the area was previously the domain of a reclusive religious commune and other than John, most of the handful of shacks there are owned by people related to the original family. The little community, like John, only reside there during their holidays. On this occasion John's usual peaceful time in Paradise is marred by a series of regrettable events. As well, there are rumors about that the area is to be compulsorily acquired by the government. He senses that something fishy is going on. Strange happenings begin to occur in the night, however no one other than John, admits to noticing anything untoward.
One day John is confronted by a mysterious aborigine who warns him there is a curse on the land and that he should sell up and leave before harm comes to him and the others in Paradise. John is determined to get to the bottom of all these matters, but when he eventually finds the truth, he discovers it would have been better to have lived in ignorance.
