Resigning herself to a life of sadness and solitude, Blair struggled day by day in the city. Her mother had passed a year earlier and her dad lived hours away on a farm. Too far for a girl who could only afford one good meal a day. So when her dad suddenly appeared on her doorstep offering a warm room and good food, she couldn't refuse.
