The Day is Today

One day the rug is pulled out from under your feet. You find out your husband is having an affair with your best friend, for example. Or the person you thought was your friend tells you that you look spectacular in that new outfit, and then she gets on twitter with a picture to mock you and get everyone to laugh at you. Your world shakes. You don't know who to believe anymore, or even why you should believe anyone. Now you have to do the walk of shame.
What do you do?
Some will continue to play the game to avoid the walk of shame: maybe they will continue to pretend the marriage is sound or they will get on twitter and say, "Yeah, it was all just a joke. She told me that outfit looked horrible on me, and we had so much fun making that picture." And then they will stick in the knife, because they can't trust their husband or their former friend anymore, and it's just a matter of time before they can turn the tables on them.
Some, when their world rocks, look for bedrock. Perhaps they have family who love them, or friends who are solid, who will comfort and assist them.
This is the story of what I did when the rug got pulled out from under me. You see, when you are poised in a position of trust on those you're working with, when you really put yourself out there in reliance upon their solidity and trustworthiness, and one or more of them betray that trust, you have to make a choice. I went looking for bedrock, and that left the group groping for firm ground for themselves.
This is the story of a group of friends, those we know as the Circle of Love, who had to figure it out.
