Om The Case of Too Many Wives
Henry Harrison Blount, AKA: the Professor, is a bigamist and a murderer who owns a used bookshop in Manhattan. After acquiring wealth beyond his wildest dreams thanks to a winning lottery ticket, he expands his business and acquires a second bookshop in Philadelphia, where he subsequently meets a woman and marries for a second time. Successfully juggling two marriages in two states, things are going well enough for him to consider opening a third bookshop in Arizona, where he has a potential third wife lined up. Things take a turn for the worse when the Professor finds himself on a desolate Manhattan subway platform late one evening being extorted by an off duty Philadelphia police officer. The officer is the lover of his second wife. In answer to being shook down the Professor murders the off- duty Philadelphia policeman in the presence of a visually challenged woman on her way home from work. The notoriety of this homicide is cause for Detective Sergeant Al Markie and Detective Oliver Von Hess to be assigned to help investigate the murder. In the course of their investigation they are destined to cross paths with Markie's old nemesis, the retired detective Fishnet Milligan. When Fishnet's new wife, a Broadway stage star, and her agent turn up dead in a Pennsylvania quarry, Markie suspects the ex-detective of foul play. Adding to complicate Markie's life is a murderous stalker known as Little Creepy, who has designs on the sergeant's girlfriend Alley. This offering is a story comprised of bigamous relationships, murders, betrayals and greed. Join Markie and Von Hess as they chase down leads in their journey to unravel their latest adventure in this fourth novel in the Sergeant Markie Mystery series.
