Strange things start happening when Kayla turns eighteen-things that science can't explain. Then a physics experiment designed by her roommate, Justine, makes their situation even more bizarre. Soon, Kayla finds herself in the middle of an age-old conflict between two powerful alien races, one that has inspired most of Earth's early mythologies and religions. Justine feels awful that her experiment has put Kayla's life in danger and vows to help Kayla fulfill her mission. There's one catch: she has to figure out how to repeat the experiment without endangering the entire planet.
