Many plants grow but only mature plants produce fruit. Jesus teaches in the gospel according to Saint John that He is the vine and His disciples are the branches. He declared that any branch that is detached from the vine cannot bear fruit. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing". St. John 15:5 The Key then to fulfilling our God-ordained purpose is to abide in Jesus Christ.
