Meet Mae Lee Morgan, who was born on a plantation called Dr. Morgan Plantation. Willie Lee Morgan introduced Mae Lee, his niece, to Sugar Ray Jackson, who is from Memphis Tennessee. Mae Lee thought that Sugar Ray is her knight in shining armor to rescue her from the cotton field of Natchez, Mississippi. Sugar Ray takes her to different juke joints, trying to make her a blues singer. She soon finds out that everything that shines is not gold. Sugar Ray Jackson is a black sheep in wolf's clothing.
