In September 1987, I was diagnosed with a fast spreading malignant cancer of the right shoulder.
In May 1988, following two operations to remove my shoulder muscle and most of my right lung, plus six weeks of radiotherapy, I was given a one-in-10 chance of surviving five years.
Now 36 years later, after having three more wonderful children and an award-winning career in journalism and book-publishing, this is my story...
