"At nineteen years old, my journey on Te Araroa was not prompted by the need to heal, but the need to continue pushing the limits of what I believed myself capable of. For me, the outdoors had always been a place of learning, of solace and of adventure." Holly Kipling was a month shy of seventeen when she first heard of Te Araroa, New Zealand's long distance trail. Three years later, she set off from Cape Reinga to begin her four and a half month journey south through the wilds of Aotearoa.
As an outdoor instructor, Holly was no stranger to the wilderness, but with no expeditions longer than eight days under her belt, she had a lot to learn along the way.
