Raising a Harrier Dog

In common usage, "Harrier" refers to a certain breed of hound dog called a "Harrier." Harriers are a medium-sized scent hound breed developed specifically for hare hunting. Their look is similar to that of Beagles, except they are larger and more powerful. The harrier's strong sense of smell and the ability to follow a scent for great distances are two of its defining characteristics.
- The outgoing and social natures of these dogs make them wonderful pets and companions. They need regular physical activity to maintain their health and happiness due to their high levels of vigor. A harrier's coat is easily recognizable due to its short, thick, and typically multicolored (and white-marked) appearance.
Harrier dogs are not as prevalent as some other hound breeds, but they are nonetheless prized for their hunting prowess and make lovely pets for those who can provide them with the required care and exercise.
