"Out of the Aeons" is a 1935 short story by American author H. P. Lovecraft. In 1879 the captain of a ship comes across a mysterious island that seems to have risen from the sea. Upon exploring it, he discovers a strange scroll in the clutches of a long-dead skeleton.
