Norwegian Elkhound Dog

The Norwegian elkhound, or Norsk Elkhound as it is known in its native Norway, is a type of dog. It has the thick double coat and stocky body typical of spitz breeds, as well as the characteristic pointed ears and curled tail. The original purpose of the Norwegian elkhound was to hunt elk, bears, and wolves.
- Although they were commonly called "Elkhounds," these dogs were really bred and used mostly for hunting moose (called elk in Europe), which they would successfully track, corner, and hold at bay until the hunters came. These canines are revered for their bravery, stamina, and devotion to their owners.
- Even though Norwegian Elkhounds are often kept as pets and friends nowadays, they are still very skilled hunters and capable working dogs.
