Nonbillable Hours

The author retired in January 2003 after practicing law for over 32 years. That was the beginning of his 365 day journey. Having worked long hours he was anxious to relive the simple pleasures of life - hearing the news of his pregnant daughter, holding his first grandchild, making up songs as he walked the beach, trying to catch a falling leaf, cruising Alaska. And having specialized in solving complex legal problems, he was anxious to exercise the artistic side of his brain. Writing a new poem every day for the first year of his retirement, he reminds us how much we can see if we only open our eyes and how much joy can be packed into a single year
