Natural Selection

The third book in The Protocols series continues to chronicle the rise and impact of authoritarianism in the modern era, its focus the Holocaust and the Second World War in Europe. Set during the Battle of Britain and the Blitz, 1940-1941, it continues the stories of people caught in the events and the thinking of their time. There is J.W.C. Simpson, who flies a Hawker Hurricane for the R.A.F.; Victor Klemperer and his Aryan wife Eva, bearing witness to the Holocaust in Dresden, Germany; Dr. Zygmunt Klukowski documenting the Nazis' imposition of the New Order for the Polish Underground; there is the novelist Arthur Koestler, fleeing the French police and the Gestapo in war torn France; and many more. Like all the books in the series, Natural Selection, is composed of excerpts taken from letters, memoirs, diaries, situation reports, previously published materials, radio transcripts, and other historical documents selected not only for their ability to illustrate the past, but for their relevance in terms of the times in which we live.
