Mountain Cur Dog

There is a certain breed of dog known as a "Mountain Cur" that is excellent at both hunting and herding. In the United States, it is more common to use the term "Cur" in this sense to refer to a general category of working dogs than to a specific breed. The Mountain Cur is a type of Cur that was developed for hunting and herding in the Appalachian Mountains of the United States.
- Historically, the name "Cur" has been used to refer to a wide variety of mixed-breed or mongrel dogs; but, when you say "Mountain Cur," you are referring to a distinct breed. Although they share some traits with other mixed-breed dogs, these canines are properly classified as a separate breed.
- Intelligent, devoted, and hard-working, Mountain Curs excel as both hunting companions and herding dogs. In addition to herding livestock, they are frequently utilized for hunting small game such as raccoons and squirrels. These dogs have been bred selectively for their abilities and features for many generations, giving them a unique identity within the larger category of Curs.
