Keila Merino is a two-time New York Road Runners Ultramarathoner of the Year, first-place finisher (men and women) in the inaugural The Greater New York 100 Mile Race in 2012, and third-place finisher in ultra running's most prestigious race, the Leadville 100. New York Road Runners, the organization behind the New york City Marathon and more than sixty other races around New York, is a huge supporter of Keila and will be providing marketing and publicity support for the book, including feature articles in its newsletter which reaches more than two million people worldwide. Keila has supporters in running organizations throughout the country, all of which has robust children's running programs. Keila will also receive support from the products she endorses, including Altra Running. - According to Runners World magazine, over 11 million youth participated in running and jogging in 2017, and over 2 million kids ran in sanctioned road races in the United States alone. According to Runningusa.org, over 60 million adults participated in running and jogging in 2018 and over 18.1 million ran an official road race.
There are over 50,000 sanctioned road races in the U.S. every year, nearly all of which have a kids' race component.
