Om Malnutrition
Malnutrition occurs when a person's body does not get enough of what it needs to stay healthy and functioning, such as vitamins, minerals, and energy (calories). Malnutrition comes in many ways, some of which are:
- When a person does not get enough of the nutrients they require, they are undernourished. It's linked to eating too little and can cause you to lose weight, lose muscle, stop growing (if you're a kid), and make you sick.
- Over nutrition: Over nutrition is the reverse of undernutrition and happens when an individual consumes an excess of calories and nutrients, often leading to obesity and related health complications, such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain malignancies.
- Malnutrition caused by a deficiency in essential micronutrients occurs when the diet is deficient in one or more of these substances. Iodine shortage, vitamin A deficiency, and iron deficiency anemia are just a few examples.
People of all ages are susceptible to malnutrition for a variety of reasons, such as a lack of healthy eating options, food scarcity, preexisting health issues, and socioeconomic status. The effects on people's bodies, minds, and overall happiness are far-reaching. In order to guarantee that people are getting the nutrients they need for optimal health, efforts to combat malnutrition focus on educating people about the importance of a balanced diet, expanding people's access to healthy foods, and treating the root causes of the problem.
