Moore recounts her childhood memories and ushers the reader through experiences which include busing, the significance of hip-hop culture and racial identity, White flight, present- day segregation, gentrification, police harassment and Black male and female relationships. Furthermore, the book powerfully communicates how young black girls are treated within our society.
