Intelligent, ambitious and exotically pretty, Farideh Darvish is an investigative journalist for a leading financial news magazine. She transfers to the Washington bureau in search of her first major story and soon crosses paths with Catherine Johnson. Trading leads and information, the two women become friends as they work together to unravel the tangled web of money, influence and power controlled by Nelson Faraday, but as they accumulate more evidence, people close to each of them are killed. In a race against time, they come to understand that the pursuit of truth is dangerous-and often quite lonely.
