Om Lakeland Portfolio
I love Cumbria, people may moan about the weather, but it is never dull for a photographer. Low clouds and rain often add atmosphere. The worst time to shoot is in the summer when the haze flattens perceptive, and everything is the same shade of green. This book is representative of my black and white photographs of the Lake District National Park, with additional photographs from the coast and the Eden Valley. I have tried to avoid the cliches, not that there is anything wrong with them, it's just that they tend to be overcrowded with people and cameras. This book contains 86 images, in roughly alphabetic order rather than geographic. All are shot on either medium format or 5x4 film over a period of twenty years. They are scanned from darkroom prints produced by myself. Original prints can be purchased, please contact me via my website for details. www.purlieu.photography
