Labels: The Invisible Bully

You are worthless, you'll never amount to anything. I guess you'll just be dumb like me. Unfortunately these are things parents and teachers sometimes tell children and then wonder why they fail in life. Most people fail to recognize that placing negative labels is a hidden form of bullying. Names and nicknames make the future person, literally. Negative and positive names that we are called as children will shape who and what we become in the future. The future me will be greatly impacted by what labels are placed on the present me. "Labels" will take a look at how easily a name or moniker can stick and the impact it will carry from childhood into adulthood. Some labels are actually encouraging and motivating. We will also look at which authority figures play roles in shaping the future of children. There will also be the discussion of replacing labels that have been a hindrance with ones that edify.
