This detailed eye-witness account, first published anonymously in 1819, describes Sir John Ross' abortive expedition to search for the North-West Passage. Its evidence about how the mission was abandoned at Lancaster Sound differed markedly from Ross' own report, published the same year amid controversy, and also reissued in this series.
