Izterab

Om Izterab

These Urdu poetic compositions begin with expression of a range of the travails of unrequited love in the Sub-continental culture still in transition to emancipation. The verses go on to intimate some thought-provoking perspectives on the great unanswered questions of human existence. The book is distinct in being printed in the author's own manuscript handwriting. The verses emphasize the emotion and the thought rather than adhere to forms and vocabulary that are less reflective of current times than in the past. There is much between the lines, which is reflective of the prevalent social order in these parts. Interpretation is left to the reader.
