Om Internal Administration
Setting: France, 1800 - This is book II of the massive history of the Consulate and the Empire, by the Nineteenth Century President of France. M. Adolphe Thiers, edited, formatted, slightly abridged, illustrated, enlarged and annotated by Mike Donovan. Book I, The Constitution of the Year VIII is also available in paperback. For those who want the first two volumes in one hardcover, at a slightly higher price, look for The Consulate and the Empire: V1. The editor sometimes disagrees with Adolphe in bracketed comments, so you've been warned if you think, like Thiers, that Napoleon walked on water. In any case, this is extremely informative and wonderfully readable; not despite its old-school writing style, but because of it. This book will get inside you in a good way, I guarantee it, providing, of course, that you truly love a good history book. It is a large-font book.
