The goal of interior design is to make a building's interior a better place to be for the people who spend time there, both in terms of health and aesthetics. An interior designer is a person who is responsible for the preparation, execution, and supervision of interior design projects. Conceptualization, space planning, site inspections, programming, research, interacting with project stakeholders, managing construction, and implementing designs are all part of the interior design process.In the past, interior design was an innate element of the construction process. In ancient Egypt, "soul houses" (or miniature versions of dwellings) were used to hold food offerings in tombs. Information regarding the ventilation, porticoes, columns, loggias, windows, and doors installed in Egyptian homes during the various dynasties can be gleaned from them.
The evolution of society and the complexity of building designs resulting from industrialization both contributed to the emergence of interior design as a distinct profession. Modern interior design has advanced thanks to an emphasis on optimizing space utilization, user satisfaction, and practicality. While the phrase "interior decorator" is widely used in the United States, it is less prevalent in the United Kingdom, where the field of interior design is not yet formally recognized as a profession due to a lack of regulation.
