This book is all about the author's journey to and from his school.

The author explains that such a journey is, in fact, much more than just a physical one. It is a journey of lessons, learning and growth which germinates at home, gets refined along the way, and blossoms at school.
Through his own example, the author illustrates how members of a family are instrumental in modulating and refining an individual's overall academic journey and experience. He also indicates how teachers and friends at school seem to seamlessly take on the roles and responsibilities of parents and siblings at home.

Besides, the author recollects the sights, sounds and situations he encountered on way to school and back while travelling across the city in a rickety and overcrowded public transport. He also provides a vivid description of edifices from almost half a century ago, including those at his school and the house he grew up in - most of which do not exist anymore.

He explores the depths and values of childhood friendships and pays a fitting tribute to his teachers for their relentless and selfless efforts in building worthy future generations.
