This book invites readers to learn a common language and the techniques around caring for natural hair so that communication among stylists and clients can be open, honest, and transparent.
Tami C. is a professional hairstylist and owner of IMENA Inc., a hair-and-beauty company based in Harlem, New York, and a graduate of the American Beauty School in the Bronx, New York.
Tami started IMENA Inc. in 2008 so that clients could have a place to go to get their hair done that understands, appreciates, and embraces their diversity in hair textures, lengths, and styles. While owning a salon space, she realized quickly the need for educating stylists and clients on curly afro-textured hair. She wanted to create a text that would help individuals learn how to work with and care for this type of hair in a way that would be entertaining and easy to follow.
