  • - Pathways to Balancing the Chakras and the Neuroendocrine System
av Martha Eddy & Shakti Andrea Smith
    484,-

Dynamic Embodiment of the Sun Salutation®: Pathways to Balancing the Chakras and the Neuroendocrine System guides you to do the Sun Salutation with more ease by integrating awareness of glandular and chakral embodiment cues and neuro-developmental movement. Everything in this book can be applied to your personal practice and overall health, or to teaching others. It offers a soft, organic yet powerful approach to being in the poses and transitioning between them. What you will learn is effective and surprising. There is tangible mystery in accessing this ability, which we all have, to embody the endocrine system and the related energy fields.By working with the endocrine system and their correlations with the chakras we are grounding the subtle within the physical body. Learn about the dynamic combination of the specific electrical and systemic circulatory nature of the neuroendocrine system. Discover how the anatomical placement of the glands and the spatial tensions (or tensegrity) surrounding them are the natural bridge to activating the energy needed for a fulfilling life. One access route to these dynamic stimuli is through Body Mind Centering's developmental approach, conveyed through the lens of Dynamic Embodiment by BMC® Master teacher Dr Martha Eddy. This approach includes an understanding of careful skeletal positioning, brain-activating movement and hormonal balancing as well as integrating broader social somatic contexts such as the impact of lifestyle, cultural and intergenerational influences. In an age when, most likely, at least one person you know is struggling with thyroid, adrenal, or reproductive glandular imbalance, this book will provide information on the physical, emotional and spiritual impact of attuning with the glands and early childhood development imprints while practising the Sun Salutation. It includes clues for what to do when yoga or endocrine work brings on chaos - from trauma triggers, kundalini overwhelm, to basic life confusion. It gives you the tools to help ground yourself and others, and to take centered action in a dynamic world.

It's hard to watch the news, scroll through social media, or listen to the radio without hearing or seeing something disturbing about the climate emergency. This can trigger all sorts of emotions: worry, anger, sadness, guilt, and even grief but also often over-looked positive emotions like motivation, connection, care, and abundance that support mental health and climate action for sustainable longevity.Written by psychologists with extensive experience in treating people with eco-anxiety, this book shows you how to harness these emotions, validate them, and transform them into positive action. It enables you to assess and understand your psychological responses to the climate crisis and move away from unhealthy defence mechanisms, such as denial and avoidance.Ultimately, it shows that the solution to both climate anxiety and the climate crisis is the same - action that is sustainable for you and for the planet - and empowers you to take steps towards this.

In Oncology Massage - an integrative approach to cancer care the authors have created a textbook which will provide both experienced and inexperienced therapists with a resource to expand their knowledge and understanding of working with people with cancer. Cancer occurrence and survivorship are now so common that every massage therapist will at some time work with clients who have been through cancer treatment. The short and long-term effects of biomedical cancer treatment require massage therapy adaptations to pressure, site, position and duration to provide safe and effective treatments. Informed massage therapists can support the body to promote overall wellness as well as identify the underlying secondary effects of cancer treatment that contribute to physical dysfunction. Oncology Massage: An Integrative Approach to Cancer Care provides massage therapists with essential information for:Treatment planning based on the physiology of cancer and cancer treatmentsCritical, thoughtful treatment decision makingConsideration of the psychosocial effects of cancerEnhancing therapist self-awareness and building a therapeutic relationship. The information is presented in a clear and simple format with plentiful use of illustrations and information boxes which allows it to be used both as a learning tool for those new to the field of oncology massage and as a resource for quick referral when working with new patients. The techniques of massage therapy change very little; it is the knowledge and understanding of their use that distinguishes a massage therapist. Oncology Massage is unusual in that it includes contributions not only from a range of experienced practitioners but also from people with cancer who have received massage during and after cancer treatment. This feedback from clients provides an invaluable addition to the understanding of how massage can be used as a safe and effective part of cancer care.

"e;From Anatomy to Architecture, from Biomechanical to Biomotional and from Classical to Connected "e;- speaks to all bodies, in all modalities; in a world seeking unity and connection more than ever. Yoga, Fascia, Anatomy and Movement was written partly as an appeal for Yoga Teachers to appreciate the depth and breadth of Yoga as a science, a movement practice and a philosophy that fundamentally espouses "e;wholeness"e; as the basis of living anatomy and form. Yoga calls for unifying who and how we are; and as teachers - how we can help our clients (who are all different) move better. Classical Anatomy (in the West) divides the body down into its component parts and traditionally (unchanged for 400 years) reduces its functionality to those parts; usually described in a 2D iconic forms and founded in lever-based mechanics. In the East, such reductionism was never espoused and Yoga, Fascia, Anatomy and Movement covers two huge bases to bridge the difference and upgrade understanding of Yoga, to 21st Century anatomy:The first is to recognise that the leading edge of Fascia Science changes all those reductionist views (anatomically and biomechanically). It is carefully explained in the first part of the book and shows how the New Science of Body Architecture actually makes perfect sense of yogic philosophy of union and wholeness. The second is to take this paradigm shift and apply it in practice, to the subtle understanding of the fascial architecture and how that helps us move better. Yoga, Fascia, Anatomy and Movement attempts to ask questions, find suitable research and make all this practical and applicable to teachers and practitioners of all types. (Indeed, it teaches "e;posture profiling"e; and creating Class Mandala's, to support this). It is a contemporary yoga teacher's bible.

All aspects of life involve movement. This book offers a broad, new theoretical framework of how integrated movement occurs, with ideas from recent science, and practical explorations. Aimed at teachers and trainees of the Alexander technique, and all movement educators and somatic therapists, it uses accessible language to enable experiential learning. The explorations are simple techniques that build to enable practitioners both to look after themselves in life and practice, and to use with clients to help them understand and integrate what we offer them. The book takes an evolutionary theme - what movement capacity we have lost in Western culture and how we can re-access it by reawakening older, more balanced movement patterns. The twelve fundamentals of integrated movement described are all practical: biomechanics is one structural fundamental, while many others are aspects of perception and thinking. These are much more part of movement than is mostly realised, because optimal movement is organised around our awareness, focus and goals. The book emerges out of lessons taken between 1990 and 1994 with Miss Goldie, who worked alongside Alexander for thirty years and was closest to him. It presents a new interpretation of how Alexander developed the technique, and what happened next. The explorations recapture the essence of her teaching, and discovers the full scope of methods Alexander must have used to work on himself. The body of the book combines theory with practical explorations that take the reader step by step back to integrated movement. Part 1 introduces the twelve fundamentals, and how natural breathing emerges when they work together; Part 2 uses body-play, conscious guidance and control and physical pulls to bring all the musculature back into play, while Part 3 explores letting previously unknown integrated movements emerge out of a quiet system. The new scientific theories described will help the reader accept these very different physical experiences. These include left / right brain models; the concept that all our body's intelligence centres (including the brain) are cooperative networks and not hierarchical; the Polyvagal theory and attachment theory; the two visual streams theory; spinal engine theory, tensegrity, and a new model of postural alignment; woven together to explain how we can live in a flow of dynamic balance.
