The purpose of this book is to provide a glimpse into the daily life of a Catholic priest who transitioned from being a pastor of a North Carolina parish to a missionary priest in the mountains of Honduras - at the age of 75. A secondary purpose of this book is to add to the rich histories of the Parish of San Francisco de Asís in Reitoca, F.M., Honduras and the Catholic Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa. This journal is a personal reflection of just one priest, so in no way should it be seen as the official position of other priests or the parishes in which the author has served. Furthermore, I remind the reader that this journal is a one-year "snapshot" of my life. Hopefully, the person who wrote this in 2021 is not the same person who lives today.

This book is a collection of brief biographies of men and women who have served Catholic missionary efforts in exceptional ways throughout the centuries. Though there are noble missionary heroes in Protestant and Orthodox Christianity, this series focuses exclusively on Catholic heroes. Its purpose is simply to introduce readers to these great ones, and to whet their appetites for more study. It is not meant to be a scholarly investigation. It is hoped that these short biographical sketches will pique the interest of readers, and that they will be tempted to learn more.
