The kingdom most Christians are willing to embrace is something that does not threaten their personal peace and comfort. After all, isn't the Christian life all about me? Absolutely not. Jesus said all authority in heaven and on earth had been given to him. He didn't say all authority in heaven and earth would be given to him at a later date. Jesus was declared the Son with power at his resurrection and his ascension was to a position of ruling authority. Truly, nations are his inheritance and the ends of the earth his possession. Not tomorrow, not sometime in the future but now.

The book of Ruth tells the tale of women in crisis. The Primary characters in the story are widows - and one of them is a foreigner. In the world of ancient Israel, no one was more vulnerable than Ruth and Naomi. Nonetheless, the main characters are shown to be wise, resourceful and courageous. Against all odds, they realize the blessings of God and secure a special place in the history of God's people.
