The main objective of this study is without doubt to provide a comprehensive analysis of the price variations as well as the seasonal trends in the contemporary global commodity markets. Economists have for many years that such price variations not to mention the impact of seasonal trends in commodity markets have actually been consistent features or occurrences within the contemporary global economic system. These price variations and the connected seasonal trends in commodity markets are actually to a large extent measurable, and are indeed frequently measured by economists, commodity or industrial producers, relevant businesses, and perhaps even governments. The international stock markets are also interested in the price variations within commodity markets.Globalisation in effect means that the price variations and seasonal trends in relation to the commodity markets depending on whether or not such trends are positive or negative in economic terms can have profound consequences for various actors within the global economic system.

  • - Friend or Foe of Regional Languages?
    av Barry Vale
    132,-

The French State traditionally has claimed the main responsibility for asserting and also promoting the cultural, linguistic, and social factors that make France itself French. In many respects the French State if left to its own devices would not even consider whether or not it was a friend or foe to regional languages within France itself. By inclination the French State is much less likely to be a friend of regional languages than it is to be a foe.

  • - 800 years of British History
    av Barry Vale
    120,-

The intention behind this book is simple, to complete a compilation of history blogs that I previously published online. These blogs are no longer available. These blogs are on a wide variety of historical topics ranging from the Anglo Saxon king Edward the Confessor, some of the battles of the Wars of the Roses as well as a few battles fought between England and Scotland. Then there battles from the English Civil Wars such as Marston Moor and Naseby. Some famous names also feature including Henry II, Edward I, Henry VIII and Oliver Cromwell. This is only intended to be a brief volume relating to British history. Neither of the sections go into a great deal of detail, they are simply meant to provide overviews of certain topics.

The tradition among British historians has been to call the series of wars that took place in Great Britain and Ireland in the mid 17th century the English Civil Wars. This is many respects is misleading as fighting took place in all of the Three Kingdoms (England, Scotland and Ireland) plus the Principality of Wales that were ruled over by the Stuart dynasty. In theory the entire British Isles been ruled by the same dynasty should have brought strength and unity yet instead it brought war and chaos. The different sections of this book will explore the causes of the British wars, and the consequences of the conflicts. Although the monarchy was eventually restored the Three Kingdoms would never be the same again.

The central theme of this work will be a discussion as to whether or not changing gender roles throughout the 18th and 19th centuries influenced women wishing to have a career in midwifery and gynaecology. Midwifery in an informal sense at least has existed for thousands of years whenever women (and sometimes men) have helped other women through pregnancy and childbirth. Gynaecology as a specialist form of medicine can be traced back to the Ancient Greeks and the Romans and was traditionally dominated as a profession by men. In Western Europe gynaecology along with other medical practices had gone backwards after the fall of the western half of the Roman Empire. In the eastern half of the Roman Empire based around Byzantine such practices continued till its fall in the 15th century. The rediscovery of Greek medicine from Arabic texts translated from Byzantine books led to the re-emergence of medical treatments on a greater scale whilst linking university education with the best-qualified practitioners.

  • - Case Studies of Germany and the Soviet Union
    av Barry Vale

The following work will discuss whether mythology or modernity had the greatest impact upon the political, social, and ethical ideologies that were closely linked to or had an influence upon graphic design and artistic culture during the twentieth century. The main focus of this dissertation will be to describe the often-complex relationship between mythology and modernity in relation to political, social, and ethical ideologies with particular reference to Germany and, to a lesser extent the Soviet Union, essentially between 1914 and the early 1930s. Germany and the Soviet Union were chosen as the main case studies for this dissertation, due to them being the countries that had the most complex situations, and often they had a highly contradictory relationship between mythology and modernity in the political, social, and ethical ideologies that influenced graphic design. Germany is of particular interest due to the clash between mythology and modernity at the end of the imperial regime, throughout the short and turbulent Weimar Republic and most strikingly during the Third Reich.
