Experiments in Film Appreciation

Experiments in Film Appreciation is the fruit of academic collaboration between India (Banaras Hindu University), Italy (University of Turin) and France (University Lyon 2). It involves both scholars and research students, the latter from BHU and the Department of Oriental Studies Turin.
Its articles deal with social and gender issues in Indian contemporary society: communalism, Kashmir, female foeticide, national identity, transgender, a Hindu anthropology of food, educational cinema, problematic conjugality and more. The multicultural approaches are mostly seen through the earnest view of young researchers: the volume stands also as a suggestion of India in the coming.
