Subtraction is the word that designates the writing operation that Felipe García Quintero practices in Empty Stone. The operation is difficult because it is performed on the heart of the contemporary poetic problem. It would seem impossible to dive into the difficulty of the action without falling into the melodrama: is there any awareness of what is at stake when one assumes to reflect on writing and poetic language, without any hint of fear, in front of everything that has been said on the subject? Impossibility seemed cold before reading Empty Stone. Now I know its temperature, its warm condition, its simple act of being in favor, not knowing exactly of what. True uncertainty, the very one, inhabits this Empty Stone.
