Om Effects of mineral fertilization on the corn crop
A study was conducted in the Désarmes neighborhood, 4th communal section of Verrettes, to investigate the effects of mineral fertilization (12-12-20) on the agronomic performance of two (2) varieties (Comayagua and MP1) of corn (Zéa mays L.). The experiment was carried out on a 217 square meter plot with a gentle slope in the direction of water flow (from south to north). A split plot design was used. All agronomic parameters were studied and calculated, and then subjected to an analysis of variance using Infostat software, a Tukey test of (5%) and Shapiro's test to justify the normality of the distribution of the collected data. As results, the height varied from 2.21 to 2.84 m and the stem diameter from 5.14 to 5.88 cm. Under the edaphoclimatic conditions of this study, the unfertilized local variety of Comayagua (4546.27 Kg/ha) can compete with MP1 (5134.04 Kg/ha), an exotic variety from CIMMYT. However, it is advisable to duplicate this study in other edaphoclimatic conditions for its possible authenticity.
