This established reference work for librarians and translators concentrates on current terminology used in the many facets of librarianship and related fields. The new edition of the < I>Dictionary of Librarianship< /I> has been thoroughly revised and brought up-to-date, reflecting current levels of theory and practice in librarianship.Including 2,551 more entries than the previous, second edition. The third edition of this dictionary contains a total of 28,850 entries -- 13,889 in the German-English part, and 14,961 in English-German. This amounts to an increase of 2,551 entries over the second edition. The disproportionate increase of English terms reflects the fact, that new developments in librarianship have their origins in the Anglo-American area. All entries are followed by subject field classifications, which indicate the context of each term where doubt may arise. Further, individual terms are provided with additional explanatory notes, and definition sources denote standardized terminology used in cataloguing codes, e.g. the RAK or AACR2.< p>This publication is of great value to the librarian who comes into contact with the English and German technical languages of information science, documentation, bibliology, the book trade, reprography, higher education, and electronic data processing.
