Colonialism and the Civilizing Myth

One of the justifications for the colonization of Africa was this idea that Africans were a backwards and uncivilized people who needed to be introduced to civilization by the colonial powers of Europe. Colonialism and the Civilizing Myth is a collection of essays which dispel this notion that European civilization was a superior civilization and that Africans were a backwards people who needed to be civilized.
