In daily life we often compare two similar quantities measured in same units. e.g. Age of persons, capital of partners, profit of different firms, salaries of persons, weight of articles, marks of different subjects, etc.
In mathematics, the operations of subtraction and division are mainly used for comparison. When two quantities are compared by division, we use ratio.
